Dr. Evans graduated magna cum laude from Miami University (Ohio) with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a co-major in neuroscience. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Saint Louis University (SLU). While attending SLU, Dr. Evans was trained in individual therapy, group therapy, and psychological assessment across a variety of settings (e.g., community clinics, a student counseling center, a federally qualified health center, a residential group home, and a sports psychology lab). He completed his doctoral internship at the University of Akron’s Counseling and Testing Center with an area of emphasis in training and supervision. Prior to joining WashU, Dr. Evans was working as a staff psychologist at a group practice.
Dr. Evans believes that an important component of therapy is finding balance between having time and space to process emotions and exploring techniques to address potential concerns. He takes an individually tailored and collaborative approach while incorporating elements from various types of therapy (e.g., ACT, CBT, and exposure therapy). His clinical interests include executive functioning, sleep, identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, the intersection of mental and physical health, and sports psychology.
