Dr. Yujia Lei (雷雨佳, (she/her/她) received her bachelor’s degree in social work and master’s degree in counseling psychology from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China. She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas, followed by an internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Counseling and Student Development at the University of Delaware. In 2024, Dr. Lei completed all of the training and supervision requirements to become a Certified Group Therapist (CGP).
Dr. Lei’s therapeutic approach is informed by person-centered, psychodynamic, and interpersonal theories with a strong emphasis on multiculturalism and feminism. Her clinical interests encompass group therapy, identity development, grief and loss, dream work, attachment and family of origin, adoption, complex trauma, immigration distress, etc.
As an Asian bilingual psychologist with international background, Dr. Lei is devoted to integrating multiculturalism and social justice into psychotherapy practice. She also actively engages in culturally informed supervision, teaching, training, and research. Her personal, professional, and cultural immersion has shaped her value in creating inclusive spaces where diverse voices and intersectional perspectives are not only heard but wholeheartedly embraced. She is committed to working with historically marginalized student communities and international students, providing them with compassionate and culturally sensitive services.
In her personal time, she enjoys connecting with friends, swimming, painting, reading, journaling, and spending time in nature.
