Internship Program Admissions

Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing likely fit with your program. This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academic preparation requirements:
There are currently four full time doctoral internship in health service psychology positions available at Wash U CCPS. The internship best fits with applicants who have a strong interest in collegiate mental health services. Applicants should be prepared to work with clients presenting with a wide range of needs and concerns, ranging from developmental or transitional difficulties to serious, chronic mental health concerns. Applicants must be comfortable working with a diverse clientele. College counseling experience is preferred but not required.

To be considered for the Wash U Center for Counseling and Psychological Services Internship in Health Service Psychology, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Enrollment in a doctoral program (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in counseling or clinical psychology
  • Completion of comprehensive exam/project by the start of internship
  • Approval and statement of readiness from DCT
  • Interest, experience and/or training in working with university students and their presenting concerns.

  • Each intern has their own office, equipped with a laptop, phone, printer and internet access, and digital recording technology.
  • CCPS uses Point-n-Click for scheduling and clinical notes, and all interns have access to PNC on their computers. Clients complete initial paperwork electronically, allowing clinicians to view electronic information from their offices prior to going to the waiting room to meet their clients.
  • As a member of the Wash U community, interns have Wash U email accounts and access to Wash U resources such as the library and gym resources (fee).
